stacks image 238Mission is that which believers do outside of the doors of the church to live, proclaim, and witness to the reality of the Kingdom of God. It is centered on loving others as Christ loves us.

At St. Matthias, we're involved individually and as a congregation in many acts of mission. Below are many of them.

Supported Ministries

John and Sharon Linquist serve with eMi - Engineering Ministries International, which does architectural design and building management for Christian ministries in the developing world. John and Sharon provide team leadership, project management, cataloguing past projects, and are frequent recruiters of engineers and others to serve on short term teams and on eMi projects.

St. Matthias supports the Linquists through prayer and finances.

Lord's Supper

The Lord's Dinner is a free hot meal served each Sunday night at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Old Colorado City. St. Matthias participates to feed the body and soul, joining with guests as well as serving them. We serve three times per year: the first Sunday of April, September, and December.

All are invited to participate:

  • Providing food
  • Helping set up, serve, and clean up

Details will be in the weekly announcements the weeks preceding the serving. Ministry leader: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Backpack Boogie

Each fall as our area children and youth return to school, some don't have the required and needed supplies: flash drives, calculators, binders, back packs, and more. St. Matthias partners with Tri-Lakes Cares and other area churches to provide those needed supplies. We specialize in back packs.

Giving Tree

As Christians we and much of the culture exchange gifts on Christmas as a reminder that God gave his son. But some parents don't have the resources to give their own children gifts. The Christmas Giving Tree provides gifts for parents to give to their children. St. Matthias partners with Tri-Lakes Cares and others in the area.

Feed My Starving Children

Feed My Starving Children is a non-profit Christian organization committed to feeding God’s children hungry in body and spirit. The approach is simple: children and adults hand-pack meals specifically formulated for malnourished children, and we ship the meals to nearly 70 countries around the world.

St. Matthias helps pack meals, providing more than 60,000 in the last packing.
