Activities for one and all

Below are the regular activities of St. Matthias for the family, individual, or friend of St. Matthias. Most of these are a great combination of fun and meaning. See each tab below for more information and a contact.

Advent Wreaths

Advent is a season of anticipation of the incarnation of God in Christ at Christmas and his return at the end of time. Episcopalians and other liturgical Christians use daily devotions of this theme. To help with this, the last Wednesday before Christmas the St. Matthias family gets together to decorate Advent Wreaths to help with this devotion.

Christmas Ornaments

Each year the people of St. Matthias hand make and give to each Christmas worshiper an ornament for their trees - to help recall the Jesus is the reason for the season. Ministry leader: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Shrove Tuesday Burning of the Palms and Pot Luck Supper

On Shrove Tuesday we gather at the church for the Burning of the Palms.  It is the tradition of the church that the palms used during the previous Palm Sunday are burned and the ashes are imposed on Ash Wednesday.  This is followed by a pot luck supper. Like all family events, this is a great time to invite neighbors and friends. We have an appropriate Mardi Gras atmosphere (itself meaning Fat Tuesday).
